Article from the freebie paper Metro in which James says he had stage fright!!! Well you couldn't tell. www.metro.co.uk/tv/865247-james-purefoy-im-fed-up-with-playing-alpha-male-typesPurefoy believes his character touches on some universal truths. ‘It’s the sense of connecting to the feelings and actions of characters that draws people to watch drama,’ he says. ‘It makes us feel less lonely. It makes us realise that we’re not the only ones who look at life a certain way, that we’re not enduring this life on Earth alone.’ To his credit, Purefoy makes the phrase ‘enduring this life’ sound curiously alluring. There’s a sense that, at 47, he’s relishing a fresh stage in his career, free from the self-imposed pressure of feeling expected to be the next big thing. Every inch the matinee idol, he screen-tested for James Bond in 1995, lost out to Daniel Craig and more recently suffered the ego kickback that is American TV: his series The Philanthropist, not shown here, was cancelled after eight episodes despite strong reviews. Returning to Britain, he’s bounced back strongly, earning acclaim for his role – back in period garb – as a 1940s Hollywood actor in Terence Rattigan’s Flare Path at London’s Theatre Royal Haymarket. Surprisingly, for a man so apparently confident and self-assured, he confesses he felt daunted at the prospect of Flare Path. ‘I hadn’t acted on stage for ten years and I admit I felt a touch of stage fright,’ he says. ‘But my son said to me: “Dad, that’s your job.” And of course, he was right. It’s my job.’ Read more: www.metro.co.uk/tv/865247-james-purefoy-im-fed-up-with-playing-alpha-male-types#ixzz1ObQW08EA

I liked Dervla in this-she made a good wife for James. And she is a great actress too-so natural. They were a convincing couple in spite of the undercurrents. Lovely tasteful bedroom scene too.

Episode 2 was just as confusing and full of red herrings as episode one. James looking gorgeous again but no bedroom or even kitchen scenes this time and no kissing. He is doing a great job of playing a tortured soul!

Atypical role after a long time for him,but I agree James plays William Travers fantastic! He studied scholl of speech and drama and it is the reason why he plays so phenomenally! His performance freezes me!!!

I am so looking forward to seeing this, I pre-ordered Injustice and Ironclad yesterday, I just can't wait to see if, or when, they are released in Australia.
