;D ;D ;D ((fingers crossed)) I found this. "An initial plan, to have James Purefoy in the lead with a script that owed quite a bit to The Da Vinci Code fell by the wayside partly because of the writer’s strike of 2007/2008 but also because Purefoy and Barry Levinson, who was being touted as director, opted to work on The Philanthropist for NBC instead. Further work, on both financing and the script, delayed the project even further however both those factors are now in place and a formal announcement is due shortly. Just like they said at the end of all those old Saint books, you really should watch for the sign of the Saint, for he will return…" SUNDAY, 6 JUNE 2010tainted-archive.blogspot.com/2010....-dickerson.html

I must admit that I didn´t pay much attention to all this "The sainT" talk.It was before I discovered James, and I thought this project was dead for ever, But I would so wish for it to get realised. It would be such a perfect role for James all this Brit humor and the irony and the perfect gentleman attitude of him.And I do think that this would be the role to earn him some serious international attention and could drive him to the big screen and to bigger well fianced projects than anything else.

I don't know if it would work out for Roger Moore to be in this at all for some reason, unless he's only in it for a short time. I haven't seen him since he played James Bond, so I have no idea what he looks like now. I just hope James (and Roger) get a REALLY GOOD script to work off of.

Just thought I'd mention that James Purefoy has kindly written the foreword to my new book, The Saint on TV. I'm sure there must be some significance in that!

You can buy it direct from the publisher; www.hirstpublishing.com. And the blurb on the web site says: "The adventures of Simon Templar, the Saint, have thrilled TV audiences around the world for over forty years. No other character is so continually reinvented for the small screen and no other character has produced series that span the quality spectrum quite so widely. With a new TV series of The Saint currently in development the time has come to discover the real story of The Saint on TV. Providing the ultimate guide to three Saint TV series (plus a failed pilot) The Saint on TV documents, for the first time, the very roots of the Saints TV adventures in 1940s Hollywood and follows them through American TVs formative years in the 1950s to the boom years of the 1960s ITC programme factory. Moving onwards the book shows the full evolution and production of the 1970s series Return of the Saint, and takes an in depth look at why the character faltered in the 1980s, going on to document the various attempts made to revive the character on TV in subsequent decades after Val Kilmer had tried to murder him in the movies. The Saint on TV reveals, for the first time, how plans were for David Niven to be the first TV Saint, in a show written and directed by the Saints creator, Leslie Charteris and reveals just who was being lined up to play Simone Templar. It tells the story of how Oliver Reed planned to become blood brothers with the Saints creator, Leslie Charteris and how David Hasselhoff desperately wanted a halo .It also reveals just what Simon Cowell was doing on Return of the Saint… Using exclusive interviews with the cast and crew on all of the Saints TV adventures including the forthcoming TV pilot, The Saint on TV is the ultimate guide to well, the Saint on TV."
