I'm ecstatic that James is growing his hair out! The shorter hair made him look a bit older (not to mention, IMO, a bit stuffier and more serious than he actually is)- he looks WORLDS better with longer hair!! As far as being Bond is concerned, I hope he gets it (finally)! I've compared every man who has played 007 to Sean Connery (who, in my opinion, is the "gold standard" actor for that character), and NONE of them, again, IMO, have lived up to it. I would just about expect our boy to exceed Mr. Connery, not only in hotness (which, as we all know, he already does), but also in playing the part as well. Although I am a big fan of Bond movies, somehow I don't want James to land this role, firstly because I don't want him to get locked into these movies and get typecast and eventually only recognised as 'Bond', he is so much better than that and with his talent I want to continue watching him vary the type of movies that he does. Also, I do believe he is just a bit too old for the role now and I think he believes this too ;D I honestly think James as Bond would be a good thing for two reasons: (a) it would make him a more popular actor here in the U.S., and (b) it would up his cred as a bankable (read: money maker for a studio) performer. And just because one has played 007 it does not mean that's all there is - again, I will point to Sean Connery as an example. After his turn as 007 he did many other films, The Lion in Winter and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen to name two that immediatey come to mind. So, in my opinion, James would not be typecast because of that. But, I do remember hearing an interview where he said that he felt that casting people would say that he was too old to play James Bond, but he also said that if the opportunity came and he were asked to do it, he would say yes without any hesitation. But, given the propensity of the last two Bond actors being younger than 40, I think you - and James - are right on the money.

BTW - anyone else notice the word Bond right above James' head? A sign of things to come, perhaps... I'm ecstatic that James is growing his hair out! The shorter hair made him look a bit older (not to mention, IMO, a bit stuffier and more serious than he actually is)- he looks WORLDS better with longer hair!! James once said that your favorite Bond is the one you grow up with,so in his case Roger Moore. So I consider myself lucky to be old enough that for me it was Sean Connery, also my Gold tandard for the role.It is true that Connery had a fantastic career afterwards ,but it was a hard struggle for him.For quite a long time nobody would cast him in another role because of this Bond-tag.And he is the only one who prospered after Bond.Where are George Lazenby and Timothey dalton now?Even Pierce Brosnan(my runner up) is not the absolute shooting star. And roger Moore has only two parts to his credit The Saint and well Bond.I din´t like the way they were heading with his Bond, more of a comic strip than everything eles ,besides he was 58 when shooting his last Bond,an this was really ridicolous. So I think James would have been a fantasic Bond back in 1995and I don´t think that he is too old RIGHT now,he can pull of physically demanding roles, but by the time Daniel Craig is done that´s another story. What this part might have done to his career and private life is mere speculation.but I must admit that I would love to see James in a contemporary role in a thrillertype movie.

Eva, the Bond I grew up with was Roger Moore (also Timothy Dalton during my last two years of high school...lol). Roger was a good Bond, but I guess he suffered from bad scripts near the end. In the early movies he was good, but then (you are right) they gave him crappy plots and writers near the end of his run. I got the chance to watch Sean Connery as Bond because my mother was a big fan of his and she bought all of his movies on VHS back in the day. When I compare him to all the other Bond actors, I find him to be the best because, in my opinion, he personifies the character not only physically, but also with body language and his vocal mannerisms. My second favorite is Roger Moore (except for his last two films). Can I see James Purefoy as Bond now? I'm not so sure - as I said in my earlier post, they seem to be going backwards in the Bond storyline - basically showing him as he was starting his career as 007. The only way I can see that happening is if the producers start remaking all of Connery's films (and a couple of Moore's early ones, up to and including Moonraker, which is my personal favorite).

I'm a Connery girl, the one and only ultimate James Bond. Yes I saw them in the cinema, though I'm not sure if I was actually old enough to be watching Dr No My second choice, Timothy Dalton still has a career, I liked his take on JB. George Lazenby was a non starter, Sorry sisters but Roger Moore should have stuck with The Saint, didn't like any of his Bond movies Pierce Brosnan was Ok, can't say I had noticed him before the Bond films. Now apart from the ridiculous opening stunts in Casino Royale, Daniel Craig has done a good job so far- perhaps I should say here, I do quite like Mr Craig, have been following his career for years. Would I like our lovely to play James Bond, I think he is so much better than the Bond movies, but hey if he's offered the part and still wants to do it he would be mad to say no. Although his privacy would be seriously compromised, he did say his son would never speak to him again if he turned down the opportunity

On the other hand, though, here's something interesting....imagine our hottie playing a Bond villain....I'd go for that, too. If Bond had to kill him, it would not be the first time James' character died in a movie - think Resident Evil. But, would any of my sisters here think he would go for that kind of role if it were offered to him?

Sean Connery did go on to make some terrific movies but he was the only one, the others faltered. Daniel Craig could do ok though, i.e. 'Defiance'
