last Friday I went to see JCOM.So here is my review but be aware
SPOILERS ahead
this was my first 3D movie and to quote Andrew Stanton I hate it.I remeber from my childhood that there were 3D pictures in fairytale books(i.e.)which one could watch with 3D glasses. To my mind the technique hasn´t improved much since then. The single elements are 3D but distinctively placed one after the other like on a stage. The vast landscapes with antlike actors and other personell look akwardly out of proportion. The solar ships look more like oldfashioned cardboard modells than state of the art CGI.I was so irritated by all this that I´m afraid I can´t do the movie any real justice.I hope for a regular DVD release to watch it without all the gimmicks. All in all I got the impression of a very easy popcorn movie.
The reviews in Austria wre quite likewarm too, stating that Andrew Stanton is better off with animation than with real actors.Exactely the point. So one of the best part of the movie is Woola. She shows real emotions, and the guy who brought her to life knows a lot about dogs.
which leaves James. In the first couple of scenes or so they did something to his hair that reminded me very much of Spock´s hairstyle, and I think he tried to sport some Marsian accent.
But for the rest of his scenes(far to few obviously) he is back to his ironic best and looks, and absolutely scene stealing.my God was he in good shape and he has the most beautiful legs I ever saw of a man.but this is nothig new to us.
