I had a feeling they would bring Ironclad to Comic Con. It's the perfect venue. Here's the info:
8:30-9:30 Ironclad Panel and Footage— A medieval Magnificent Seven that combines the visceral action of 300 with the impassioned heroism and romance of Braveheart, Ironclad is a violent action thriller that tells the true story of a motley crew of tough, battle hardened warriors, who withstood several brutal and bloody months under siege, in a desperate bid to defend their country’s freedom. Starring James Purefoy, Paul Giamatti, Brian Cox, Kate Mara, Jason Flemyng, and Derek Jacobi. Filmmakers Jonathan English (Minotaur), Andrew Curtis (Lost In La Mancha), and Rick Benattar (Shoot 'em Up) will screen an 11-minute battle sequence from the film and host a Q&A afterward. Special surprise guests to appear! Room 7AB
Yes, I will be attending CC again this year. Could I be THAT lucky again and have JP as one of the surprise guests? Hope, hope...

I saw this on the schedule and nearly leapt out of my chair. Of course, we only get 11 minutes of Ironclad, but who knows who the 'Special guest' might be. I fully intend to be there regardless, we should totally meet up.

Sorry Kathy - you'll meet him someday. We don't even know for sure if he'll be there - just hoping at this point. They say guests, plural, so maybe he will.

Boo - they updated the panel: Filmmakers Jonathan English (Minotaur), Andrew Curtis (Lost In La Mancha), and Rick Benattar (Shoot 'em Up) are joined by actor Paul Giamatti to screen an 11-minute battle sequence from the film and host a Q&A afterward. Room 7AB Looks like Paul was the surprise guest, though it originally said guestS . I knew I could never be THAT lucky.

Saw the Ironclad panel - a small room not even filled, but those who were there were VERY enthusiastic. The writer had to cancel, so it was the producer, Paul G. and a Swedish actor from the film as well. What an amazing 11 minutes!!! Very bloody battle, but not gratuitous. James was in the clip with a few lines, but according to the producer, it's Marshall's (James' character) story. He praised James up and down and someone asked how the cast came about. Paul and the producer had worked together before and both loved James in Rome and thought he'd be perfect. They are taking the film, which is still in post, to Toronto for the film festival. They have several overseas distributors, but no U.S. distributor. Solomon Kane all over again? I hope not. No goodies were given out, like posters, etc. I'm sure James would have attended had he been available.

No U.S. distributor? What a shocker. Damn. Here we go again... Oh no! if the US don't pick it up then Australia probably won't either, damn, I am getting so fed up with this, I just want to see James on the big screen. However, it is early days, still time to get US/Aussie Distributors, we can only hope, fingers crossed.

Saw the Ironclad panel... Thanks Susan! Awesome to have "one of us" there! Happy that they appreciate James as much as we do, how could they not?? - I am impressed with the clip myself, not over the top violence, I think...more of a thinking movie? Anything with Paul G usually is...and James...well, not always the case...
